Sarah Ulmer goes into top gear for Plunket!

*27 May 2011* The SUB Stride or Ride Event, hosted by Sarah Ulmer and held in Cambridge on Mother’s Day, has raised $7,000 for Plunket families displaced by the Christchurch earthquake Plunket CEO Jenny Prince said that the funds will make a real difference to the services Plunket can offer to the families of Christchurch. “Many families have fled to outlying regions, and are seeking Plunket support and we’re noticing an increase in demand for services around the country. “We’re tremendously grateful to Sarah personally and to SUB for their support at this time”.

Plunket welcomes shaken baby DVD

*25 May 2011* A graphic DVD showing the affects of Shaken Baby Syndrome, which will be shown to every mother who gives birth in Auckland from July, has been welcomed by Plunket. “Anything that can be done to raise the issue of shaken baby syndrome in public is a positive thing”, says Plunket Clinical Advisor Allison Jamieson. “A crying baby and parents suffering from a lack of sleep can combine to create a very stressful situation.

Product recall notice

*2 May 2011* A voluntary product recall alert has been issued for the Mothers Choice 3 in 1 Car Seat ( Model LB515) and the Baby Wise 3 in 1 Car Seat (Model LB513) after a small number of seats came in for repair due to a malfunctioning buckle. The car seats were sold throughout New Zealand between November 2007 and April 2011 at SuperCheap Auto, Repco, Farmers, The Warehouse, Smith City and specialty stores. The malfunctioning buckles do not cause injury to children but could make it difficult to unbuckle a child quickly in an emergency.
