Information for students & schools

Many students come to Plunket, and look to the Plunket website, for the information they need to complete the assignments and projects they are undertaking as part of their studies. We would like to help you as much as we can, but it isn’t always possible for us to answer each query individually. Please read the information available on these pages as the answers to your questions may be included on one of these pages.

We have a wealth of information available to you from over a hundred years of operating. Many of the questions we are asked include ‘how did Plunket begin?’ or, ‘who is Plunket’s founder?’ This along with, why we started and how we are still going strong, can be found on our history page. At over 100 years old, we have a rich and interesting history, so be sure to check it out.

Students with babyAnother common question is ‘how is Plunket funded?’ One of our key strengths is that we have three funding streams; government, corporate and community. The different services offered by Plunket, and the different things Plunket needs to operate are funded in a variety of ways. More information on this can be found on our working in partnership page.

Plunket delivers education programs in schools across New Zealand. In developing our courses Plunket has built on the philosophy that ‘it takes a community to raise a child’. Plunket partners with schools to teach parenting skills that will ensure the health and safety of young families today and tomorrow. Our most popular course is Tots and Toddlers, where students can interact with parents and their babies.

If you have decided to hold a fundraiser for Plunket, thank you. We appreciate the support of our communities, and that you thought of us! The best way to donate this money is to contact the Plunket Office in your area. This way, the funds you have raised go straight to helping the families and children in your community.
