Parent education programme (PEPE)

PEPE (Parenting Education ProgrammE) is a Plunket-developed national programme which consists of a series of four courses, aimed at supporting first time parents in their parenting role through the different stages of their child’s early development.

The transition to parenthood is a time of many changes. PEPE groups can play a significant role in helping parents through this process. They can also provide an opportunity for parents to increase their understanding of their baby’s needs, to develop positive parenting patterns, and in establishing a social support network for this new stage of their lives.

The PEPE programme consists of a series of four courses, Your New Baby –Parenting in the first six weeks, Your Growing Baby - Parenting from 6 weeks to 1 year, Your Ac
tive Toddler – Parenting from 1 to 2 years and Your Curious Pre-schooler – Parenting from 2 to 3 years and is free to all participants. We have also introduced a dads only course, called Dads4Dads. This course is designed for fathers of children under 1 year old, facilitated by dads and covers key issues that relate to parenting and fatherhood. Download the fact sheet below for more information on PEPE courses.
