Plunket Canterbury provides a service for those living from Cheviot to Dunsandal and to Arthur's Pass. There are 58 clinics and a Family Centre staffed by 34 nurses and 11 Karitane or Kaiawhina. There is a service for families experiencing distress or depression after the birth of a child.
Additional services are funded by an active group of volunteers. These include PEPE parenting courses, coffee groups, toy libraries, car seat rental schemes and support in Clinics/Family Centre.
The region is governed by the Canterbury Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket committees and the NZ Councillor. There are four Māori Kaumatua who provide support for clients and staff.
