Tiredness

Broken sleep and the demands of caring for a young child commonly lead to tiredness. It's important to sleep or rest when your child sleeps. Take the phone off the hook when you are resting.

Consider:

  • talking to visitors about when is the best time to visit and how they can help
  • arranging for a trusted friend or relative to care for your child for a while so you can have a sleep or rest
  • having a relaxing bath or shower
  • going to bed early, even for a few nights
  • sharing getting up in the night with your partner, family or whānau member
  • spending a few nights with a friend or relative who would be happy to help with your child
  • discussing the problem with others.
