Huge support for Plunket’s Annual Appeal

Daylight Savings Ends

A huge THANK YOU to all our supporters who gave their time and donations to the Plunket Appeal. Your help makes a significant difference to the services funded and offered to local communities including parenting education programmes, parent support groups such as coffee groups, play groups and toy libraries.

Amongst the hive of activity throughout the country by Plunket’s staff, volunteers and their families and friends, Plunket’s sponsors were also working to raise extra funds…

BNZ and Plunket, side-by-side for Annual Appeal

Plunket’s Principal Partner, BNZ is right beside Plunket when it comes to helping families in New Zealand… and the Plunket Appeal! The BNZ and Plunket teams came together to plan fundraising activities, and over 170 BNZ stores promoted Appeal Week and had donation buckets.

All sorts of BNZ fundraisers were run during March including bake sales, a stairwell challenge and sausage sizzle galore! BNZ’s Wellington South Store team helped by joining forces with their local Plunket to hold a stall at their local fair selling water. To entice people to the stall, they had a Star Wars theme with characters poised to take photos with fair goers.

“We sold out of water, had lots of photos with Plunket Big Blue and the Star Wars characters for a donation, and gave out lots of balloons on the day. It was a great start to the Plunket Appeal and great for my team to connect with and support our local Plunket and community”, says Ryan Tunstall, BNZ Store Manager, Wellington South.

Donations through BNZ are still coming in, but it’s anticipated that funds raised will go into the thousands. Thanks BNZ, you really are fantastic!

Best Start raises over $26,000 for Appeal

Best Start centres provide lots of ongoing support to Plunket through sponsorship and sharing facilities and resources. When it comes to Plunket’s Appeal week, their teams go the extra mile by holding fun and exciting events at their centres to raise funds. 250 centres around the country held blue-themed days, did blue baking, hosted Blue Bear, held art auctions and even had blue slime thrown over staff for donations!

Best Start, with its vision of making a positive difference in the lives of kiwi children, fully embraces our Appeal. Here's just one Centre's story:

With just 47 families, ABC Raureka (Hastings) has punched above its weight raising an impressive $912 for Plunket.

Showing their support for Plunket, ABC Raureka in Hastings hosted a Blue Teddy Bears Picnic. Their children came dressed in blue and brought along their favourite teddy bear for a beautifully blue afternoon tea. They had blue jelly, blue muffins, blue rice bubble cakes, blue popcorn and plenty of fruit. Their whānau joined them for kai, stories and much laughter. During the week they ran two raffles in which their wonderful whānau helped by donating food items and selling tickets.

A big thank you to the staff of ABC Raureka and all their wonderful parents and whānau who came along and helped support the Plunket Appeal.
