World Breastfeeding week

Breastfeeding rates in New Zealand are increasing slowly, according to Plunket data released during World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August). Plunket says in 2015 and in 2016, 87. 5% of babies aged between 2 and 6 weeks received breast milk, a figure 1.

World Breastfeeding week

Breastfeeding rates in New Zealand are steadily increasing, according to Plunket data released during World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August). Plunket says in 2013 and in 2014, 86% of babies aged between 2 and 6 weeks received some breast milk, the highest rate since 1994. The increases are encouraging, however the statistics also show the rate of any breastfeeding at 12 weeks is consistently lower than the rate at 6 weeks.

Plunket supports World Breastfeeding Week - in communities and online

Plunket, New Zealand’s largest provider of services to support the well being of children under five, is proud to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week (Friday 1 August-7 August) in communities across the country, and on social media. Plunket people will once again support and take part in the Big Latch OnTM, an event organised by Women's Health Action as part of the New Zealand celebrations. On Friday 1 August and Saturday 2 August at 10.

Plunket proud to support World Breastfeeding Week

Breastfeeding is celebrated around the world every year from 1 - 7 August with World Breastfeeding Week. As part of the New Zealand celebrations, Women's Health Action runs the Big Latch OnTM. On Friday 2 August at 10.
