Colgate-Palmolive, Plunket and the NZ Dental Association are celebrating giving away more than 150,000 infant toothbrushes and toothpastes, as part of their commitment to establish healthy oral hygiene habits in Kiwi children from an early age. For the past three years, Colgate has donated a toothbrush and toothpaste to every new baby at their five-month Plunket visit, along with educational resources developed by NZ Dental Association (NZDA), for Plunket nurses and parents. The joint initiative is designed to combat cavities in New Zealand children’s teeth.
New Zealand’s largest provider of services to support the well-being of children under five welcomes the release of figures showing the number of infant deaths at record lows. Plunket Clinical Advisor Allison Jamieson says it shows that safety messages are getting through. “Plunket and other agencies have put a lot of work into getting safe sleeping messages out to parents and it’s great to see these messages having an impact.
