Giving Communities the Services they Need

A new Plunket antenatal programme is exceeding all expectations – for the parents taking part and for the volunteers who are the secrets to its success. Hosted by the Johnsonville Plunket Centre, the programme is the brainchild of Sandra Yeldon, a Plunket volunteer and President of the Johnsonville Plunket Committee. Determined to find a sustainable way of funding the increasing costs of operating the centre, Sandra researched and confirmed community demand for a reasonably priced antenatal class.

Plunket thrilled to be meeting the young Royal family

The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society is delighted with the news from Kensington Palace and the New Zealand Royal Visit Office today that they are to be a part of the upcoming visit by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and baby Prince George. “We are just so excited to be a part of the visit. Their time in New Zealand is so limited so to get the opportunity to introduce them to Plunket is such an honour”, says Plunket New Zealand President Tristine Clark.

Titahi Bay volunteer wins Volunteer of the Year Award

​Haidee Hemsley recently won the Pam Murray Volunteer of the Year Award, which has been running since Pam Murray was the New Zealand President of Plunket (From 1999-2003). Haidee has been volunteering for the Titahi Bay Committee for five years, and currently holds the role of President. Moana Uerata-Jennings, Wellington Plunket’s Community Service Leader, said that Haidee has been integral to keeping the Committee together in a very diverse community.

Keep an eye out for kids on the roads

Plunket is urging people to keep an eye out for children as they head back to school this week. As New Zealand’s largest provider of services to support the health and development of children under five, Plunket recognises many children will be venturing off to school for the first time. Sue Campbell, Plunket’s National Child Safety Advisor, says for parents and caregivers the start of the school year can be an emotional and busy time.
