It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost upon us. The few months since our last newsletter have been very full.
In October it was an honour to be part of the ceremony at Parliament and a proud moment to stand in front of Prime Minister John Key and celebrate the success of two great Plunket teams for the annual Eyebright Awards.
The Eyebright Awards were established in 2003 by Plunket sponsors Wattie’s and Huggies to celebrate the work of exceptional Plunket teams. Each year they are judged by a panel which includes experts from the Maori Health, Operations and Quality & Development teams from Plunket’s National Office
This year's 'Innovation' award went to the team from Hawke’s Bay Plunket who constructed a purpose built 'Community Hub' designed to enable Plunket and other organisations to deliver a range of health and social services under one family friendly roof.
The Counties Manukau Plunket team were winners of the 2012 Eyebrights 'Working Together' Award for their Outreach Immunisation Pilot Programme which lifted the immunisation rate for under 2’s in their community from 89% to 95%.
Every day for more than 100 years, teams of Plunket volunteers and nurses have worked together in communities providing innovative solutions and delivering highly valued services to New Zealand families. Congratulations to this year’s winners.
PlunketPlus continues to be a main focus for us as we head into the final development stages.
PlunketPlus is an exciting initiative that will transform the way we work with children and families/whānau in New Zealand.
Harnessing modern technology, PlunketPlus will enable us to deliver more efficient and effective services to our clients, respond more quickly to our most vulnerable children, and interact more closely with organisations in the health and social service community.
PlunketPlus is an investment in the future of New Zealand children.
In September and October we were the guests of their Excellencies Governor General Lieutenant General The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae, and Lady Janine Mateparae in Wellington and Auckland for two PlunketPlus planning meetings. These meetings enabled us to put our PlunketPlus Business Case in front of a group of New Zealand’s most successful business people for their feedback and support. Both meetings were extremely positive.
We would both like to take this opportunity to wish you a safe and happy holiday break. We look forward to sharing more with you in the New Year.
