Every Child Counts awards call for nominations

Nominations are currently being sought for the annual Every Child Counts awards.

The Every Child Counts coalition, of which Plunket is a founding member, promotes the concept that consideration for children's needs should be at the centre of government policy and planning if New Zealand is to have an economically and socially sustainable future.

The awards, which were first presented in 2007, recognise individuals and organisations that have made a difference towards improving the status and wellbeing of children.

Some previous recipients include the Censorship Compliance Unit, Dept. of Internal Affairs, Wellington, for global leadership in the fight against child pornography, Parliament, for the passage of the Crimes Amendment Act 2007 and Mereana Tautu-Buchanan for her work with the Youth Team Trust supporting 3500 young people over the past twelve years.

See the Every Child Counts website for an application form. Applications close 31 August.
