Karori Plunket Crèche is a small, intimate, family/whanau friendly childcare education centre. We are governed by the Royal NZ Plunket Society and have a great committee of wonderful parents who meet once a month.

We have a maximum of 14 children at any time, and 2 fully qualified, registered teachers, which allows for plenty of individual attention. Our license includes 3 under 2year old spaces which allows children to start just before their 2nd birthday. Children are welcome from around their 2nd Birthday until they reach school age.

We offer an integrated education programme that draws from your child’s interests using the early childhood curriculum Te Whaariki.

Enrolling your child

You are welcome to visit KPC at anytime to see how we operate. Feel free to bring your pre-schooler (and any siblings!) with you for a visit.

To place you child’s name on our waiting list once they have turned one, phone or call into KPC and leave your child’s details. Places will be filled when they become available.

We hold a monthly playgroup for all children who are on our waiting list. This is generally the first Tuesday of the month. It gives families a chance to see how the creche operates, allows new children to become familiar with the environment, teachers and families can meet and chat about both the creche and your child's interests and allows families to meet with other families who will be sending their child to creche. The playgroup is free to all attending.

Our Fees and Enrolment

$35.00 - per session for under 3 years old.

Over 3 years 20 hours ECE with $10 optional charge per sessions. $40.00 enrolment/admin fee.

You may be eligible to apply for a childcare subsidy to help with childcare costs.

Contact us to enrol your child any time after their 1st Birthday.

Our philosophy

Our programme is based around observations of the children’s needs and interests and Te Whāriki (the National Early Childhood Curriculum). A detailed programme is available on the Crèche noticeboard so you can see how each session is structured.

Our aim is to provide both security and extension for your child. The security comes from a warm and friendly atmosphere and a fairly organised daily routine. Extension comes from the variety of experiences and activities available (art and craft, play dough, puzzles, books, toys, outside activities, music, drama, farm animal and fire-fighter visits etc.), and also from the social interaction and co-operation we encourage among children.

Karori Plunket Crèche is licensed by the Ministry of Education. A comprehensive overview of KPC is available on the Education Review Office website www.ero.govt.nz
