The impact of your gift

Thank you for considering a gift in your will – your gift will make the difference of a lifetime for future generations.

No matter how big or small, a legacy gift is one of the most significant gifts you can make to the Plunket Foundation. It will change lives for better, making a big difference to children, families, and whānau that need the support provided through the wrap around community services that Plunket delivers.

Examples of programmes and services your your gift to the Plunket Foundation could help fund:

  • Local community playgroups that give families the opportunity to learn parenting skills while their children play, and to connect with other families as they start their parenting journey
  • Breastfeeding clinics and other groups that help new mums with their babies
  • Whirihia, an ante-natal programme in the Waikato

Your gift can be a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or even a specific property or asset. How it’s used is up to you. You may be happy for us to use your gift in the area of most need, or you might want to choose a specific part of the country or service that is special to you.

Need more information? Our dedicated Foundation Manager is available to answer any questions you may have. Please email legacy@plunket.org.nz to find out more about how to leave a gift in your will to the Plunket Foundation, and how it will be used.

How to write your will

Thank you for considering including a gift in your will to the Plunket Foundation.

Gifts in Wills are some of the most thoughtful gifts we receive. They ensure that future generations of New Zealand children and their families get the need support they need through the wraparound community services that Plunket delivers.

Writing or amending your will is a relatively simple process, but we always recommend you seek advice from your solicitor.

When updating your will its important to include the full name of the charity – The Plunket Foundation – together with our registered charity number which is CC35424.

Information for your solicitor

Here is an example of useful and accurate wording covering legacy gifts.

Legacy of all or part of a net estate

I give to the Plunket Foundation, registered charity number CC35424 ________ % of my Estate, or ________ of the residue of my Estate, or I give to The Plunket Foundation the sum of %________to be used for its general purposes.

Types of gifts

A Residuary gift is a percentage or share of the balance of your estate once all other payments and gifts have been made. Many people prefer to make residuary gifts because this keeps in line with inflation and does not lose value over time.

Pecuniary gift is a fixed amount of money.

Specific gift is a gift of a specific item, like personal possessions, land, property or shares.
