Frequently asked questions

Do I need to tell Plunket if I’ve included them in my will?

There is no obligation to tell us if you choose to include Plunket in your will. However, we are always happy to hear from our supporters, and by letting us know your intentions we'll know how best to support you. It also gives us a chance to thank you and invite you to be a member of the Truby King Society (see below). Any information you provide is confidential and not legally binding.

Do I need to use a solicitor to write or amend my will?

We recommend that you consult with a solicitor when preparing or making changes to your will.

What is Plunket’s charity registration number?

Plunket is a registered charity and our registration number is CC54853

What are the different types of gifts that I can make in my will?

There are three types of gifts you can make:

  • Residuary gift is a percentage or share of the balance of your estate once all other payments and gifts have been made. Many people prefer to make residuary gifts because this keeps in line with inflation and does not lose value over time.
  • Pecuniary gift is a fixed amount of money
  • Specific gift is a gift of a specific item, like personal possessions, land, property or shares.

What Plunket services will my gift help support?

Your gift can provide support for various work that we do across the country, including

  • supporting a local playgroup, which gives children and their families the opportunity to learn and connect
  • supporting breastfeeding clinics and other projects that help new mums with their babies
  • helping fund major projects, like Whirihia.

Every single gift has a huge impact and will change lives.

What information do I need to include when leaving a gift to Plunket?

Please insert the following message:

I give to the Plunket Foundation________ % of my Estate, or ________ of the residue of my Estate, or I give to The Plunket Foundation the sum of %________to be used for its general purposes.
