People credited with this unit standard are able to: identify and describe support services and networks available in the community to assist young children and whānau/families; identify and describe own personal support needs and how identified agencies/services provide services to meet these needs.

This unit standard is an introduction to early childhood learning and life skills. It is designed for people who care for young children in parenting roles, or as support for carers of infants, toddlers and/or young children in a supervised environment.

Modules include:

  • Government agencies and services
  • Non government agencies and services
  • Money, understanding how things work in New Zealand
  • The cost of living, personal budgeting and budgeting agencies
  • Understanding personal support needs
