"When I became a mum, I didn’t realise how many questions, worries, and what-ifs would fill my mind every day," says Jan.

"My son is now one year old, and looking back, one of the biggest blessings in my motherhood journey has been our Plunket nurse."

“Plunket isn’t just about checkups, it’s about people like her who truly care, who make new mums feel supported and never alone,” she says.

“From our very first appointment, she made me feel seen and heard. She never once made me feel like I was overthinking or being ‘too much’.

“Instead, she listened, really listened, to every little concern I had about my baby. Whether it was a change in his feeding, a rash I was unsure about, or milestones I was anxious he hadn’t reached yet, she treated every question with care and compassion.

“What stood out most was how proactive she was. If something worried me, she wouldn’t just reassure me and move on, she’d offer to contact my son’s GP or refer us to a specialist herself. That gave me so much peace of mind, knowing I wasn’t alone in figuring things out.

“Even outside our visits, she would reply to my texts and emails with kindness and understanding. Those little messages meant the world on the hard days, when I needed someone to tell me, ‘You’re doing great, and your baby’s okay’.

“Thanks to her, I’ve grown more confident as a mum… I’ll always be grateful for her gentle guidance and the reassurance she gave me when I needed it most."
