About STAR and Gateway programmes
Gateway is a work experience programme designed for senior students, mainly in years 12 and 13. The programme provides students with opportunities to gain real-world experience while still at school. It is designed to help students experience potential career pathways, develop practical skills, and make informed decisions about their future careers.
Participants are placed in workplaces related to their area of interest so they can experience the day-to-day operations of a particular industry or profession. The work placement is usually one day a week and can range from several weeks to several months.
You can choose from our unit standards to support your students. There are options for a 20-credit bundle or choose from our catalogue. Our Working with Kids ABC course also gives an in-person one-day workshop option.
STAR or Gateway is subject to availability in your area - see our 2026 flyer for more details including dates and pricing.
