After-school Care | Babysitting | Coaching
Are the young people you work with looking for their first job working with children? Do they want to build their confidence and gain practical skills that look great on their CV?
Our Working with Kids ABC course is designed for young people aged 14–18 who are interested in working with children. This could be in after-school care, babysitting, coaching, or community programmes.
Topics
In just one day (9am - 3pm) course participants will learn about:
- positive behaviour management
- professionalism and responsibility
- basic first aid awareness
- keeping children safe
- understanding children's needs
- tips and confidence for working with young people.
This practical, face-to-face workshop is a great way to prepare for a first job and demonstrate commitment to employers.
How the course is offered
We offer the course in three ways:
- at your high school – teachers can book a workshop for their students
- in your community – we can deliver the course at community centres, marae, youth groups, or other local organisations
- school holiday programmes – we regularly run workshops during the school holidays, with upcoming dates advertised on on the Whānau Āwhina Plunket Facebook page.
