Maia Wai is a fun, safe, and supportive swimming initiative designed for tamariki and their whānau. Delivered in partnership with Whānau Āwhina Plunket and the Napier Aquatic Centre, Maia Wai gives families the opportunity to build water confidence, learn essential safety skills, and enjoy quality time together in the pool.

The programme runs for 10 weeks during school term time and is open to pēpi aged 6 months up to 4 years with their whānau. Spaces are limited, so early registration is essential.

Registrations are managed through our Hawke's Bay Plunket Facebook page.

Whether you’re brand new to swimming or simply want to strengthen your child’s water safety awareness, Maia Wai helps tamariki develop skills that last a lifetime while strengthening community connections.

At Maia Wai, it’s not about perfect strokes, it’s about confidence, fun, and keeping our whānau safe around water.
