Maia Wai is a fun, safe, and supportive swimming initiative designed for tamariki and their whānau.
Delivered in partnership with Whānau Āwhina Plunket and the Napier Aquatic Centre, Maia Wai is a fully funded programme that gives families the opportunity to build water confidence, learn essential water safety skills, and enjoy quality time together in the pool.
The programme runs for 10 weeks during school term time and is open to pēpi aged 6 months to 4 years and their whānau. Spaces are limited.
Whether you're new to swimming or simply want to strengthen your child's water safety awareness, Maia Wai helps tamariki develop skills that last a lifetime while fostering confidence, connection, and wellbeing.
At Maia Wai, it's not about perfect strokes - it's about confidence, fun, and keeping our whānau safe around water.
Eligibility criteria applies. Spaces are limited, and registration is essential.
Talk to your local Plunket nurse, healthcare worker, or kaiāwhina to find out if you are eligible to register.
