Playgroups foster children's mental health and well-being by providing opportunities for social interaction, emotional regulation, and skill development through structured and unstructured play. They offer a safe environment for children to explore their feelings, experiment with different roles, and learn how to navigate social situations. This contributes to their overall emotional maturity and resilience, to help develop an understanding of emotions and social cues.
Playgroups can significantly benefit the mental health of parents. They offer a chance to connect with others, share experiences, and build support networks, which can reduce feelings of isolation, and improve overall well-being. Playgroups provide opportunities for parents to learn new parenting strategies, social skills, and foster their child's development, further contributing to a more positive and confident parenting experience.
We welcome tamariki aged 0-5 years old along with their caregivers. Please bring a change of clothes, and a snack and drink for your child.
Sessions are free to attend, but koha is always appreciated. No booking or prior registration is needed, but if you want to attend regularly you will need to register as this is an MOE-funded group.
