Whānau Āwhina Plunket supports families with young children at more than 400 sites across Aotearoa.
For many whānau, our clinics form their first impression of Plunket, so it’s essential that our spaces feel safe, welcoming and cared for.
Our Kaikohe, Far North hub recently underwent significant renovations thanks to some generous donors. The refreshed building is now a busy, vibrant community space. It offers Well Child checks, immunisations, kaiāwhina appointments, midwife clinics and weekly playgroup. Local families have noticed the difference, and kaimahi (staff) say the improvements have brought renewed energy to their mahi (work).
Now, we’re turning our attention outdoors.
We would love to install a purpose-built playground for tamariki under five. The Kaikohe community doesn't have a dedicated playground for this age group at the moment. And a safe, fun play space for the littlest tamariki at our hub would give whānau somewhere to gather, connect and build confidence — particularly for parents who may feel isolated and lonely in those early years.
The current playground needs a makeover so under-fives are safe to play & learn
As Government funding does not cover upgrades like this, we rely on the support of our community.
We need to raise $50,000 to reach our goal. Thanks to a generous donor, every dollar you can give will be matched by - doubling your impact.
With your help, we can create a joyful, safe space where our smallest tamariki in Kaikohe can play and thrive.
A playground like the one shown here, found at another Plunket hub, would be ideal for the Kaikohe community.
