Volunteer

As a Plunket volunteer you will be supported by our amazing Community Services team.

They'll help you find a volunteer role that matches your skills and experience, the needs of our communities, and a role that works in harmony with your family, work or study commitments.

We're looking for passionate, caring volunteers to join our team around Aotearoa New Zealand. We have a variety of roles available to suit different skills, interests, and availability – if you aren’t sure what might be a good fit, get in touch and we can help!

Some of our roles include:

• Parent groups and playgroups: Run or support local groups, provide activities for tamariki, or help bring parents together in a welcoming environment.
• Home visiting volunteers: Support parents and whānau in their homes, providing practical support and companionship.
• Helping maintain Plunket clinics and spaces: get involved with gardening, working bees, or even property maintenance if you have the skills!
• Fundraising: helping us raise money to support our services.

Please note: availability of specific roles does vary by region.

We're looking for people who are:

• warm, approachable, and passionate about supporting families and communities
• flexible and adaptable when working with children and parents
• strong at communicating with great interpersonal skills
• committed to Plunket values: māia (courage), māhaki (humility), manaaki (care), and tūhono (building relationships).

Time commitment

Varies by role. For those working with parents and whānau this can be from 2 hours per week, and we usually ask for a regular (weekly or fortnightly) commitment for at least 6 months.

We also have some short-term and one-off volunteering opportunities.

Requirements

Safety checking including police vetting and references – as you’ll be working with children and families.
