Parenting education classes

Plunket can help you develop your parenting skills with a number of free parenting classes, suited to your style of learning.  Plunket understands the enormous impact that a new baby has on the life of its parents, and the changes – and occasional difficulties – that new parents can experience.

With this in mind, Plunket has designed two education programmes that are available throughout New Zealand.

Pregnancy and Parenting Education Programme (PPE)

Plunket provides the Pregnancy and Parenting Education (PPE) programme (previously known as ‘Antenatal’ classes) on the West Coast of the South Island, Canterbury, South Canterbury (Waimate) and within the Southern District Health Board area (Oamaru, Otago, Central Otago and Southland).

This programme is for all parents. The focus is to support first time parents’ by providing a range of information and facilitation of discussions around pregnancy and childbirth, and parenting of their newborn baby. We encourage enrolment for a course as soon as your pregnancy has been confirmed. Enrol online at

Parenting Education Programme (PEPE)

Parenting through separation

Plunket provides the Parenting Through Separation programme in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Taupo district and the West Coast of the South Island.
