Our kaimahi (staff) were proud to be present at Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga in New Plymouth last week, to support whānau attending 'the olympics of kapa haka'.

Plunket kaiāwhina Natasha Tomlins says incorporating Te Ao Māori into our mahi is a priority for Whānau Āwhina Plunket, so taking up the chance to attend Te Matatini in the Tamariki Village was “a given”.

She said the village area provided tamariki and their whānau a place to relax away from the busy festival, as well as providing an opportunity to share information about our services.

Plunket’s Tamariki Health Check van was there providing a space for Well Child Tamariki Ora checks and health advice, while areas for feeding and changing (supported by our partner Huggies) were appreciated by whānau - as was the chance to win one of five car seats. Lactation consultants were also available for breastfeeding whānau.

Read more about what whānau thought of the space on the Te Matatini website.
