Clinical educator

Plunket Educator’s provide future focussed clinical and academic education to Registered nurses enrolled on the Postgraduate Certificate course – Well Child Tamariki Ora.

Their mentoring and support helps to produce Plunket Nurses with know-how and understanding.

Our Educators work throughout New Zealand, based at various Plunket offices. They report to the National Education Manager and work closely with the rest of the Education Team, as well as Quality and Development Services team members, Clinical Leaders and Area Managers.

The role is busy and varied. Effective communication with a wide range of people, including students, education organisations, Plunket staff and external providers is paramount.

Educators are accountable for:

  • planning, delivering and evaluating clinical teaching, marking assignments and ensuring academic records are correct and current
  • planning education needs with their Area and delivering professional development to staff
  • driving education within and external to Plunket, ensuring education is evidence based, current and relevant in both education strategy and delivery
  • ensuring commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi by aligning education work with the Treaty and its principles.

What’s required?

Educators are experienced Registered Nurses with Well Child Health qualifications and nursing experience to at least PDRP Level 3 (Plunket Professional Development Programme).

Educators hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate and generally will have completed or are working towards a Masters degree.
