Measles in NZ

There are current cases of measles in Aotearoa New Zealand. Make sure tamariki and the whole whānau have had 2 doses of the MMR vaccine. Find out more

We know it can be tricky to keep up to date with your child’s vaccinations along with everything else. That’s why we're making it easier to protect your tamariki, by providing immunisation services at selected Plunket clinics around Aotearoa New Zealand.

This is a pilot programme run in partnership with Health New Zealand, to help make immunisation more accessible to whānau. The pilot runs until June 2026. You can read more about the immunisation pilot here.

Some of our Plunket nurses have been trained as vaccinators so they can offer immunisation services alongside our Well Child Tamariki Ora services.

Who can get immunised at Plunket clinics?

Our service is for tamariki under five, hapū māmā, and anyone over the age of 12 months who needs an MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine. Immunisations are free of charge.

What immunisations does Plunket offer?

  • We immunise tamariki under five years old for protection against 13 vaccine-preventable diseases as recommended in the National Immunisation Schedule.
  • We are now offering free MMR vaccines for the whole whānau: pēpi (12 months+), tamariki, rangatahi, and adults. We can check if anyone in the whānau needs immunising, and you don’t need to have pēpi or tamariki to access this service.
  • We also offer whooping cough (pertussis) vaccination for hapū māmā.

How do I book immunisations through Plunket?

Whānau can call our admin line on 0800 184 803 to make an appointment, or get in touch with the kaiāwhina or nurses at the immunisation clinics listed above.
