People credited with this unit standard are able to: describe and demonstrate care practices for infants and toddlers.

This unit standard is an introduction to early childhood learning and life skills. It is designed for people who care for young children in parenting roles, or as support for carers of infants, toddlers and/or young children in a supervised environment.

Modules include:

  • Caring for young infants: birth to six months: nurturing, feeding & sleeping
  • Caring for young infants: birth to six months: nappy changing, bathing, dressing, playing and communicating
  • Caring for older infants: six months until walking: nurturing, feeding, and sleeping; bathing, dressing, playing and communicating
  • Caring for toddlers: walking to two and a half - three years: nurturing, feeding, sleeping, bathing, toileting, dressing, playing and communicating.
